Rupee strengthened by 16 paise to 70.09 against dollar today.
Foreign currency dealers have said that the fall in crude oil prices, the fall in investment by foreign funds and the rupee strengthened by the export of American currency by exporters. The rupee closed at 70.25 against the US dollar on Thursday.
Temporary data have pointed out that the investment of Rs 3,785.73 crore has been invested in the capital market on the basis of foreign funds side by side, while domestic institutional investors sold shares worth Rs 4,069.98 crore on Thursday.
Today, the benchmark BSE Sensex was trading 150.56 points or 0.39 percent higher at 38,864.41 in early trade, while NSE's Nifty was trading 50.25 points or 0.43 percent higher at 11,692.05. On the other hand, Crude Oil's global benchmark Brent Crude was trading 0.28 percent lower at 74.14 barrels.
