After the Modi government came, the rupee appreciated by 21 paise to 69.81 against the US dollar on Friday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi won a grand victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. According to the stock exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 1,352.20 crore on Thursday and remained net buyers.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was trading 170.51 points or 0.44 percent higher at 38,981.90. Similarly, the NSE Nifty rose 54.15 points, or 0.46 percent, to 11,711.20 points.
Forex dealers said that the strong FII investment and strong opening in the domestic stock markets helped the rupee to get support. However, due to firmness in crude oil, the rupee was not as fast as the market expected.
Rupee against the dollar in the interbank forex market today, with the strengthening of 69.75. In the previous session, the rupee had dropped 36 paise to close at 70.02 against the US dollar.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was trading 170.51 points or 0.44 percent higher at 38,981.90. Similarly, the NSE Nifty rose 54.15 points, or 0.46 percent, to 11,711.20 points.
